Every true gamer knows the frustration they go through when the downloading process takes longer than the actual time you spend playing the game. Now, things are about to change as Microsoft has come up with the right solution.

With the latest version of the console’s operating system, Microsoft claims to have increased download speed by 80% — that is, if your internet connection is faster than 100Mbps. If not, you will still be able to experience a 40% improvement in download speed.

Of course, factors like your home network, ISP and downloads taking place in the background while you’re playing a game will have an impact on real world figures.

The update bumps up the OS version to 10.0.14393.2152 (rs1_xbox_rel_1610 161208-1218). Along with faster downloads, it also brings significant performance improvements and bug fixes as claimed by Microsoft.

The update brings a whole a lot more to the table than just upping the download speed. There is a firmware refresh for the Xbox One wireless controller along with several tweaks that should make streaming music in the background more reliable across different apps and then the usual array of stability updates. Moreover, streaming music apps are also to function better.

These are surely reasons enough to update your firmware. To get the latest update, just follow a few simple steps. Head over to the Settings tab on the console and select “Console info & updates” from the System menu.

The update is now live, so you should be able to grab it the next time your Xbox One is online. If you have the update, let us know how it is working out for you in the comments.
